As we know in our personal lives, happiness coexists with hardship; it is impossible to avoid trials in the dunya. This was also true of early Muslim leadership, including tragedies that befell our great leaders, Uthman, Ali and al-Husayn RA, may Allah be pleased with them all. Within these trials, there are lessons for the ummah to learn from.
