Mawlana Jalaluddin Balkhi, or more famously known as Rumi, is one of the most misrepresented individuals in history. His poetry has spread by both the west and east alike. However, the flavour of Rumi that most people have in today’s day and age is quite far from its reality. He wasn’t just a “poet” as some like to assert. He was far more than that. He was an ocean of knowledge whose poetry gave commentary to both the Quran and Prophetic Traditions.
